Sometimes you just need to divide and conquer when you're doing an entire house of furniture for a family👊🏼. I'm so thankful for my bomb team 🙌🏻. For our design meeting this morning, we split up all the areas of the home and each are heading up our own set of rooms, but work collaboratively on design ideas together. I love working in such a creative environment and am constantly inspired by the people that choose to come into my office each day. I often ask myself, how did I get so lucky that these super cool and amazing creatives want to work for me? What? #luckybosslady. Another thing I am trying to work on this year is being content with the things I have. I used to constantly shuffle things around in my house, which totally makes it feel like you got new stuff (you know, just playing some good old fashion mind tricks on yourself)! I hadn't done it in a while so today that is what I did in my dining room. There are still a few things I'd love to change, like get rid of the stripes and do some wallpaper, but for now I'm just going to be content. It's pretty amazing how some purdy custom drapery can totally make a frustrating Friday not so bad after all. @ragsdale6 just sent me this from a client's. While this ☝🏻is the glamorous side of our business, the side we like to share with you guys, the glamour is only about 15-20% of it. And then some days you are still in your robe at 3 pm and didn't make it drop your kid off to school before their scheduled nap time because you've been dealing with headaches and putting out work fires the whole day. 🙋🏻 I'm totally about to be that mom that drops him off at 3:00 so I can catch a much needed hour and a half at my office with my staff. I always love the beginning planning stage of a big remodel. It makes me super giddy. Is that crazy? Well as if I wasn't giddy enough, I DEFINITELY am now after the morning design meeting I had with our client at @bentwoodkitchens. So many amazing cabinetry and finish options and talk about incredible quality! Then to top it off, I got to hang out with my old pal from design school @emily_louise_martin who works there. As you may have noticed, we do lots of construction related design jobs (remodels and new construction), some of which we manage the construction ourselves. I come from a family of contractors and my mom herself is a woman in construction. So, I have such a love for supporting other women who are rocking it in the construction industry. As you can imagine I watch a lot of home improvement shows and I have recently become totally obsessed with everything that Tamara Day @growing_days has done on her show Bargain Mansions. Y'all, this woman is not only an insanely talented designer, but also a bad to the bone contractor. It's always bitter sweet for us when a project is finished because we become pretty close with our clients during the process, especially during remodels. I got a text from this client of mine the other day that said, "Is it weird that I get jealous when I see your posts of all your new projects? It's like signing on and seeing a slew of pics of your ex boyfriend with his new girlfriend". 😂😂😂 I asked if it would make it any better if I posted another pic of her project.
